French Exploratory

        French Exploratory has four strands: Communicating, Acquiring Information, Experiencing Creative Works, and Understanding Cultural Influences.

Grade 6

        The French 6 Exploratory will focus on lessons and activities that allow students to develop an appreciation of French language and culture. It is hoped that they develop some experience with authentic communication, both orally and in writing by means of some of the following topics:

        Greetings                           Calendar             French around the world

        Numbers                             School                Using a dictionary

        Colours                               Songs                 Seasonal vocabulary

            French lessons will include active conversation, books, visuals, artifacts, worksheets, games, role-play, music, video, Internet websites and other French language resources.

Grades 7 & 8

            The focus of French 7 & 8 is to explore the language using a variety of activities. It is hoped that students will develop a positive attitude toward the language and culture through emphasis on hearing and speaking French in an active environment. Written and oral work will be supplemented by the use of songs and gestures.
